Bespoke Hardware Design for Innovative Solutions

Our name might hint at software, but Full Stack Energy goes deeper. We engineer across the entire stack — from silicon to cloud — and custom hardware design is where some of the most transformative work happens. Because not every breakthrough fits an off-the-shelf mould.

In short

When a standard board won't cut it, we build hardware from first principles — custom PCBs tailored to exact requirements, with firmware, edge and cloud integration. A recent example: intelligent LED lighting nodes, each on a bespoke board with eight TPS929120 LED drivers, a secure mesh network, and a PIC24 microcontroller managing solar charging, GPS logging and an optional AES-encrypted Modbus link — a distributed, intelligent platform optimised for power and performance.

When custom hardware makes the difference

When a standard board won’t cut it, or when custom design can unlock new levels of performance, efficiency, or feature integration, that’s where we thrive. Our team builds hardware from first principles, crafting custom PCB solutions tailored to your exact requirements.

The board we built

Consider a recent project where a client aimed to deploy a network of intelligent LED lighting nodes. This wasn’t just about software; it demanded a custom hardware foundation for each node to achieve the desired intelligence and network capabilities.

Crucially, the client required a secure and reliable communication backbone and robust power management. Our full-stack offering included a custom board design that interfaced seamlessly with a Linux edge device and cloud backend. This bespoke board incorporated:

  • Eight TPS929120 LED drivers for precise, high-performance illumination in each node.
  • A secure mesh network for robust, scalable, and critically secure communication across the entire lighting system — ensuring reliable data exchange and protecting against unauthorised access.
  • A PIC24 microcontroller to intelligently manage solar charging, GPS location and time logging, and the specific real-time control requirements of the application. It also included an optional AES-encrypted Modbus link, enabling secure integration with other industrial control systems.

This comprehensive approach allowed for smart features and distributed control, all while efficiently managing power.

The result? A distributed, intelligent hardware platform optimised for power and performance — built for the client’s exact needs.

Full-stack integration

This wasn’t just a board; it was a foundation for distributed intelligence, power optimisation and seamless integration — a prime example of our full-stack capability: from hardware design and firmware development on the embedded board, through to seamless integration with Linux edge devices and cloud backends. We also provide comprehensive GUI development, ensuring intuitive control and monitoring of your entire system.

Where Full Stack Energy fits

When your project demands a truly unique, high-performing full-stack solution, we have the end-to-end expertise to build it from the ground up — the same depth behind our indoor-positioning and IoT data work. Whether it’s a one-off proof of concept or a full production run, we’ll help you move fast, reduce risk, and bring your idea to life. Talk to us.
