About

The specialist partner for complex energy problems

Not a product vendor. Not a generalist consultancy. A specialist energy technology services company that connects engineering, data and commercial outcomes into measurable sustainability — cutting energy, carbon and cost across the full energy stack.

From energy monitoring to full-stack capability

We didn't set out to be a “full stack” anything. We started as ResourceKraft, building energy monitoring that people in the UK and Ireland actually trusted — and for a good while, that was the whole job. Then the questions stopped being about monitoring. Could we build a sensor that didn't exist yet? Model a market nobody else wanted to touch? Get new software talking to a thirty-year-old control system with no documentation and a man named Pat who'd retired? We kept saying yes, and kept hiring the people who could make yes true.

“Full Stack Energy” is the honest name for what we'd quietly become.

The work now spans the UK, Ireland, the US and Europe — run out of Limerick and Houston. Same team, same stubbornness about owning the whole problem instead of a tidy slice of it.

Four layers, one team

Hand a hard energy problem to most firms and it gets filed under one heading: a software job, a hardware job, a maths problem, a markets question. The trouble is the problems worth paying for almost never sit politely inside one heading. They live in the seams. Working all four layers at once is the only way we've found to stop things quietly falling down the gaps between them.

Why organisations choose us

Cross-layer thinking

Hardware, software, data and markets — connected, not siloed.

Deep domain expertise

Engineers, data scientists and market analysts who understand energy from the ground up.

Commercial pragmatism

Every solution designed to deliver a measurable commercial or environmental outcome.

Long-term partnership

The organisations that find us tend to keep working with us, for years.

Information security

Security is a discipline we practise, not a box we tick. We're certified to ISO/IEC 27001, the international standard for information security management — and it governs how we handle your data.

The unique combination of quality engineering and vast energy expertise sets Full Stack Energy apart. Their dedication and flexibility helped drive our 10-year+ business relationship and helped our customers save $1.5 billion in energy costs.

The team continue to be core to the design and re-architecture of our flagship Direct Install platform — and during our relationship we also carved out and managed key IP blocks together, including the acquisition of a key patent in 2020.

The people behind the work

We're small on purpose. The person explaining the work to you is usually the person doing it — not an account manager relaying messages down a chain. We hire for depth, curiosity, and a slightly awkward refusal to stay in one lane.

Liam Relihan
Founder · CEO & CTO

Liam Relihan

Liam is the reason "full stack" is in the name. Nearly three decades in, he's worked every layer — embedded hardware and firmware, full-stack software, data and applied AI — and, more unusually, the commercial end where you find out whether any of it was worth building. Close to twenty years of that has been spent founding and running energy-technology businesses, after cutting his teeth at Intel; the credentials are an MSc in Computer Science and a BSc in Computer Systems, both from the University of Limerick.

Today he leads the team across renewables, storage and dispatch, EV charging, data centres and asset performance — for utilities, suppliers, contractors and energy-transition businesses on both sides of the Atlantic. Away from the desk he thinks best at a woodworking bench or behind a camera: two crafts that, like the day job, punish impatience and reward getting the details exactly right.

Senior Software Engineer

James Stockdale

James builds the platforms that connect a sensor in the field to the person who needs the answer — LoRaWAN networks, multi-protocol IoT pipelines, data APIs, visualisation, and the AI-powered interfaces that sit on top of all of it.

Twenty years of shipping software across energy, IoT, finance and enterprise systems sit behind that, along with an MEng in Computing (AI & Knowledge Engineering) from Imperial and a BSc in Environmental Management from UCC — a combination that turns out to be well suited to energy data. Away from the screen he's usually in the garden, waging a slow campaign to turn the front into a vegetable patch — and getting quietly competitive about identifying wildflowers and birdsong.

Dr Stuart Woolley
Applied Mathematician

Dr Stuart Woolley

Stuart thinks, and reads, mostly — then commits the thinking to maths, and sometimes the maths to code. A first-class degree, a master's and a doctorate, all done for the fun of it. Unix through and through: shell scripts, C, Swift, macOS and Mathematica. Telecoms, aerospace, high-availability systems, and now energy — curious, focussed, and cheerfully uninterested in career progression.

He also writes “The Grand Game of Software Engineering” on Medium — a very long-running and faintly seditious field guide to how software really gets built, and the people who get in the way. He fully intends to end up dealing antiques in the countryside, an espresso martini to hand. Or melding with a future AGI, if it's raining.

Senior Computer Engineer

Gabriel Espinoza Rojas

Gabriel works across hardware and software — building solutions where the physical device and the code that drives it are designed to work as one.

Originally from Costa Rica, he's worked across both European and American markets and keeps a steady run of qualifications going: CompTIA Network+, ISTQB Certified Tester, and a first-class-honours UL certificate in Artificial Intelligence. He has also run the Great Limerick Run every single year since 2022 — a streak he has no intention of being the one to break.

Shane Williams
Senior Software Engineer

Shane Williams

Shane builds and looks after complete enterprise energy monitoring systems — the platforms clients log into every day — with a stubborn focus on turning complex data into something a person can actually use, in support of the shift to cleaner energy.

His background is a deliberate mix of Computer Science Engineering and Medical Biotechnology, which tends to produce people who ask why before how. Outside work he's usually studying something, under a loaded barbell, three moves deep in a game of chess, or filing pull requests to open-source projects — with time outdoors alongside his wife, two kids and dog to keep it all honest.

Principal Software Engineer

Krystian Czekalski

Krystian builds the reliable software systems that turn complex energy, site and operational data into practical tools — for customers and for the team behind them. He works mostly in TypeScript and Python, across cloud platforms, industrial IoT, data engineering, web applications and DevOps, with a bias toward systems that are secure, maintainable and still standing years later.

Outside work he plays tennis, teaches programming through Udemy and YouTube, and collects board games — more than 260 of them at last count, which tells you most of what you need to know about how he thinks.

Edson builds full-stack web applications, AWS cloud architecture, AI agents and neural search systems — the kind of software that increasingly does its own thinking, and the infrastructure solid enough to let it.

Twenty years across the stack sit behind that: front-end, back-end, big data, database architecture and project management, running mostly on JavaScript, React, C#, Python, Microsoft SQL Server and AWS. Outside work he trains BJJ (Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu), is husband to Vanessa and dad to Eduardo, and unwinds with a video game, an Adam Sandler film, or a 4x4 Rubik's Cube — three hobbies with roughly the same tolerance for giving up.

Levi builds software and data platforms for the energy sector — full-stack, end to end. His background spans cloud platforms, geospatial data and scalable distributed systems, with an eye for the plumbing that keeps a platform running long after launch.

Outside the day job he's got a running habit of picking up new tools, frameworks and software ideas just to see how they work — curiosity that tends to find its way back into the work itself.

The work speaks for itself

Three problems from three corners of the stack. Not one of them could have been solved by a firm that only does one thing — which is rather the point.

Come talk to us — we're listening

Bring us a complex energy problem. We work across mathematics, software and hardware to solve the ones that don't fit a single specialism.
